Týr is associated with law and heroic glory in Norse mythology, portrayed as one-handed. Tyr is mostly associated with the saga 'The Binding of Fenrir', where he sacrificed his hand in order to bind Fenrir with Gleipnir. 
 
This statue has been sculpted to appear weathered before being cast in a high quality plaster.
